Our History
We have been in the fresh cut flower business for over 30 years. We began our journey in Bogota, Colombia SA in 1988. We worked at 3 flower farms and experienced the business from end to end — farm level to design. The experience of working at the farm and learning the planting, growth & cut cycles; and the daily care that is involved is impressive! It is also fundamental to the success of working in this industry. Flowers are a labor of love and equally gratifying. Simultaneously perishable products have many challenges, and the logistics are complicated. We moved to CT in 1994 to open Bella Rosa International, leaving the growing side, shifting to importing and marketing. We began marketing to wholesalers but quickly shifted to the supermarket industry. There was tremendous growth in that industry, and we were instrumental in designing floral programs for one of the larger chains direct from farm level. Our focus has always been and remains excellent customer service in delivering quality product consistently. We take great pride in the philanthropic work we do and welcome and new projects. For over 20 years we participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. We have sponsored programs for The American Red Cross – Disaster Relief and The American Heart Association. Additionally, we have donated floral bouquets and arrangements to various local nonprofits such as The Bushnell, Grace Academy, Capital Squash, Relay for Life, and many public schools in support of the athletic, music, arts, and other programs. We are a small business who believes in supporting small, giving back, and participating locally with our friends and neighbors who support us! We hope you will join us in one of our flower workshops and let us share the joy of flowers with you. Cheers!
